Amazon To Eliminate Marijuana Testing, Supports MORE Act

Amazon said in a statement this week that it will no longer drug test employees for marijuana and that it supports the passing of the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act of 2021.

"We're changing our drug-testing policy," said Dave Clark, Amazon's global consumer division CEO. "In the past, we've rejected people from working at Amazon if they tested positive for marijuana use, as have many other businesses." However, considering the direction in which state laws are developing across the United States, we've altered our minds. Marijuana will no longer be included in our comprehensive drug screening program for any positions not controlled by the Department of Transportation, and it will be treated similarly to alcohol usage. We will continue to do job-related impairment checks and will test for all drugs and alcohol following any occurrence."

From pot to plant-based food: Bruce Linton talks about his newest venture

Why is Bruce Linton getting into plant-based food?

"Well, I would say marijuana, and your assumption would be that I've got the munchies," said Linton with a laugh.

As the founder and former co-CEO of Canopy Growth, one of the world's largest cannabis companies, it could be reasonable to assume that anything Linton does goes back to marijuana. As Canopy Growth grew, it caught the attention of alcohol seller Constellation Brands, which purchased a more than $4 billion stake in 2017 and 2018 — and then fired Linton in 2019 when the company posted a wider-than-expected net loss.
